Spirit-Filled Life

Christians, Politics, and the President

Clay Speaker
It’s sad how many people just assume that all the Christians who favor Trump over the left’s alternatives are supportive of everything the President says and does.

It’s sad how many people just assume that all the Christians who favor Trump over the left’s alternatives are supportive of everything the President says and does. Certainly not true, I’d say, for most of his supporters.

For many, he’s often terribly embarrassing and makes numerous mistakes. But when you look at the 20+ running against him on the other side, it’s hard (impossible?) to find even one viable candidate who doesn’t support killing an unborn child way past the age of viability, all the way to the moment of birth. And it appears that most of them would not say or do anything to block infanticide, if an abortion target happened to survive. That’s not only embarrassing, it’s downright barbaric, murderous.

The right edge of evangelicalism certainly has a lot to answer for before God. But so does the left: fighting tooth and nail for the right to kill defenseless children; supporting the demise of biblical marriage, being silent at best in the face of the proliferation of perversion and filth.

The upcoming election season may possibly be the worst, the ugliest in our lifetime. This is a time for Christians to come together in prayer, to be led by the Holy Spirit more than ideological fervor, and to be worthy ambassadors for Christ in all we do and say. Help us, Lord Jesus, to represent You well.
